At Rombauer Vineyards, we are proud to make wine from the best growing regions across California where each variety thrives. From the rolling hills of Carneros to the high altitude of the Sierra Foothills or the cool floors of Sonoma to the intense heat of the Napa Valley mountains, we go where the final wine will be the Rombauer style our customers know and love.
In celebration of California Wine Month, let’s dive into these regions and our signatures wines from each of them.
Napa Valley: Cabernet Sauvignon
Our Cabernet Sauvignon hails from estate vineyards across the Napa Valley, a region celebrated this iconic variety. Our five Cabernets are robust and complex, boasting layers of dark fruit, chocolate, and spice, with a velvety finish that epitomizes the elegance of Napa Valley.
Santa Lucia Highlands: Pinot Noir
From the cool, windswept slopes of the Santa Lucia Highlands, our Pinot Noir is a testament to this unique growing climate in Monterrey County. The region's bright sunshine coupled with its cooling maritime influence grow grapes which are full of intensely perfumed, silkily textured, and full of mouth-watering acidity.
Sierra Foothills: Zinfandel
The rugged terrain and warm climate of the Sierra Foothills are ideal for cultivating Zinfandel, a grape known for its robust and hearty character which thrives in heat and higher altitudes. Our Zinfandels embody those characteristics, offering a bold wine with a rich fruit core and a generous mouth feel. It's a vibrant expression of California's pioneering spirit.
Sonoma: Sauvignon Blanc
Sonoma County's cool climate offers the perfect area for the majority of our Sauvignon Blanc, producing fruit which crisp, vibrant, and ripe, fresh flavors. We love the backbone it provides when blended with ripe fruit from the Napa side, resulting in a wine which will leave you wanting another sip.
Carneros: Chardonnay
Carneros, straddling both Napa and Sonoma Counties, create an ideal setting for Chardonnay vines. Our Chardonnay reflects the cool foggy mornings, warm sunny afternoons, and rolling hills with flavors of peach, melon, and citrus all underscored by bright acidity from the unique Carneros Climate.
