Koerner Rombauer

With an outsize personality and a zest for life, Koerner was the soul of Rombauer Vineyards, its founder and, for over 38 years, its overseer. As a nephew of Irma Rombauer, author of the Joy of Cooking, Koerner was naturally drawn to a life in wine and food. Following a successful career as a commercial pilot, Koerner moved to Napa Valley with his family in 1972, purchasing 40 acres of beautiful hilltop land in St. Helena. Throwing themselves wholeheartedly into creating a life that embraced the Joy of Wine, Koerner and his beloved first wife, Joan, founded Rombauer Vineyards, their family home and life legacy.
