An elegant example of Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon, this bold and structured red wine was the first wine Rombauer Vineyards ever made back in 1980. This smaller format is perfect for enjoying a personal pour or sharing between two. Open this alongside a perfectly grilled steak or share a glass over a charcuterie board.
Flavor Profiles
Ripe aromas of cherry, cassis, and vanilla rise from the glass, layered with savory hints of white pepper, olive, and tomato leaf. The palate is full-bodied and expressive with a nice softness on the finish. Balanced acidity and very fine tannins frame each sip, leaving a lasting and harmonious impression.
The fruit for this wine comes from vineyards in the St. Helena, Calistoga, Stags Leap District, and Atlas Peak AVAs. Our winemakers believe that 2023 was one of the best vintages in recent memory. The year was cool and consistent, ending with some warm spells in September. These perfect conditions allowed optimal fruit ripeness while still preserving the signature acid and body for which Rombauer wines are known.
The grapes were carefully destemmed and optically sorted to ensure only perfect fruit made it into the wine. A cold soak extracted color and flavor before a combination of tank and barrel fermentation was used to provide a richer, more textured palate. The wine was gently basket-pressed before being racked to French oak barrels for malolactic fermentation and aging.
