In addition to making wine in both Australia and Napa Valley, Michael has held harvest positions at some of the most prestigious wineries in the world, including Château Margaux in Bordeaux, Tahbilk and Tyrell’s Wine in Australia, Inniskillin Wines in Canada and Paul Jaboulet Aîné in the Rhone Valley. “I always sought out the finest producers in their regions so I could learn as much as I could.” He also wanted his father to be able to taste these great wines, as the two share a lifelong adventure in the joy of wine. As manager of Rombauer’s Sierra Foothills facility Michael particularly likes working with the Zinfandel grape, which he calls “uniquely Californian.”  “It’s like Syrah is to Australia; it’s an iconic varietal, particularly in this region.”
