Sustainable Stewardship
The Joy of Wine starts with healthy land and a strong community. Sustainability is fundamental to the way we farm, make wine, and work together.
Looking to the Future With
Everything We do Today
At Rombauer Vineyards, caring for the land is both an honor and a responsibility, ensuring it thrives for generations to come. Across our vineyards and wineries, we conserve water, generate renewable energy, build healthier soils, protect wildlife habitat, and continually look for smarter ways to work. The results are measurable: our Napa Valley facilities receive 60% of their energy from solar power, and we use roughly 3 gallons of water for every gallon of wine produced, about half the industry average.
Certified Sustainability
Our commitment is backed by independent industry certifications that hold our vineyards and wineries to rigorous standards for environmental stewardship and responsible operations.
Certified California Sustainable
Our certification requires annual third-party audits and ongoing tracking of water, energy, greenhouse-gas emissions, and other key resources.
Napa Green Winery Certified
Certified since 2020, our Napa Valley winery is evaluated from production through hospitality, including water and energy efficiency, waste reduction, climate action, and social equity.
Fish Friendly Farming Certified
Our certified vineyards follow conservation practices that protect water quality and support healthy fish and wildlife habitat.
We are Future Focused
Solar Power
Solar power supplies 60% of the energy used at our Napa Valley facilities.
Nesting Boxes
Barn owl nesting boxes give these natural hunters a home in our vineyards, where they help control mice, gophers, and other pests.
Fish Friendly Farming
We employ conservation practices that reduce erosion and runoff, protecting waterways and habitat for coho salmon and steelhead trout.
Sheep
Sheep graze between our vine rows, naturally controlling weeds while reducing herbicide use and tractor passes for mowing.
Water Efficiency
We use approximately 3 gallons of water for every gallon of wine produced, about half the industry average. Drip irrigation in our vineyards and our EcoVolt wastewater management system help us use water more efficiently.
Natural Fertilizer
We compost green waste from our vineyards and winery, then return it to the vineyards as natural fertilizer to replenish nutrients in the soil.
